Operator Licensing - Failure to comply

If you've got this far you are most probably an operator who is eager to comply.

To be issued with an Operator's Licence is something that many take for granted.

Unfortunately the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) do not have the resources or manpower to check out every Goods Vehicle Operator for satisfactory levels of compliance.

When a company or person (owner driver) applies for a first 'O' licence the requirements are failry straightforward, if not very logical - somewhere environmentally acceptable to park; satisfactory levels of financial standing (again, not particularly sensible, taking into account the high levels of repair and maintenance contracts now being entered into); an employee (full or part time) who has achieved a Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Transport (unless transporting their own goods, then no need to be professionally competent - not sensible again??).

Do not take the Traffic Commissioner lightly ............. they have powers that are far reaching and can result in you losing your company at the stroke of a pen.

FAILURE TO COMPLY =

Loss of licence ...................loss of work ................... loss of livelihood

Impounding of vehicles  ............................. heavy fines ......................... imprisonment
