Training
As each day passes it seems that the legal requirements placed on Goods Vehicle Operators and Commercial Truck Drivers' grows and grows.........
The obligations of holding an 'O' licence are far greater than the average business needs to worry about if they don't run commercial vehicles of their own. Trucks and their owners are invariably seen as the main reason behind global warming and only a select few of the population seem to grasp that 'if you've got it - a truck brought it!!'
A vocational truck driver of today needs to pass a theory test and two practical tests to gain his category C then C+E. He/she is then obliged to fully undestand and implement the EU Drivers' Hours Regs, ensure the truck they are assigned is safe, legal and environmentally compliant. They are expected to be fully conversant with customer care and know the in's and out's of Health & Safety. But, out on the road they're just seen as a necessary nuisance that blocks up the road!
Our image is terrible and no one but us can change that. Ensuring that every operator and every driver knows what he/she is obligated to do is essential if we are to survive in today's 'truck-hating' world.
from January 2008 the following courses will be available:-
Driver Awareness and Safety In the Workplace
A half-day course that is aimed at experienced, professional drivers who need a refesher session on what they learnt when they first became truck drivers and what has changed since! The session will last 3 hours and will include:-
- EU Drivers' Hours - compliance with, recording of.
- Walk-round checks and defect reporting
- The new Highway Code and how it affects trucks
- Health & Safety in the Workplace
This training session can take place at the operators premises, a venue of the operators choice or at our own training facility, to be opened in January 2008.
Cost: £45.00 per delegate (minimum number - 10)
Understanding the Digital Tachograph
It's not rocket science, it's just very, very badly specified(!) and therefore not the easiest thing to work with or trust. Attendance on this training session will ensure that both drivers and those chosen to download and store data from the driver card and vehicle unit will get a sound grounding in what's needed and required of them.
Further information will be available from January 2008, but customers of the TRUCKUK-tachomaster analysis service can already take advantage of a one-to-one service for drivers' of newly acquired digital tachograph fitted trucks.
Every driver that is assigned to a digital tachograph fitted truck can receive a one hour induction session at the customers operating centre, when the workings of the particular vehicle unit (Stoneridge/Siemens/Actia) will be worked through and a 12 page 'idiot's guide' folder will be left with the driver.
